As a Tech Risk & Controls Director in Governance Risk and Controls, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the firm’s technology risk management strategy. Leveraging your advanced knowledge and expertise in technology-risk disciplines, you will identify, oversee, and mitigate compliance and operational risks in line with the firm’s standards. This unique position combines the responsibilities of managing technology risks and controls with the strategic oversight of operations, ensuring seamless integration and execution of processes across the organization. Your leadership will drive impactful change, enhance industry compliance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
Job responsibilities
- Develops and implements the firm’s technology risk management strategy, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with stakeholders, including Product Owners, Business Control Managers, and regulators, to maintain a comprehensive view of the technology risk posture.
- Leads the identification, escalation, monitoring, and measurement of operational risk in accordance with firm-wide operational risk programs.
- Provides independent risk and control advisory support, including targeted reviews, root cause analysis, and developing sustainable risk mitigation solutions.
- Leads the operations team, ensuring effective oversight of processes and controls to meet Key Performance Indicators for client satisfaction.
- Cultivates a proactive risk and control culture, promoting continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure strong focus on quality and delivery, driving consistent operational practices.
- Manages financial goals, including budgeting, capacity planning, and forecasting expenses.
- Acts as the SME on Operational Risk Management, guiding risk management and process improvements.
- Partners with business and functional partners to identify key risks and mitigants associated with strategic partnerships and acquisitions.
- Prepares and presents reports and recommendations to senior management, influencing executive-level strategic decision-making.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Significant expertise in technology risk management, operations, or a related field within the financial services industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in control management, compliance, and operational risk mitigation.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with proven experience leading global functions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and synthesize large amounts of information.
- Proficiency in risk assessment, issue/impact analysis, and executive report preparation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-focused environment, managing competing priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance, technology, or a related field.
- Experience in managing operations and/or risk & controls, with familiarity in data management initiatives.
- Capability to leverage AI/ML for identifying and mitigating risks associated with emerging technologies.
- CISM, CRISC, CISSP, or similar industry-recognized risk and risk certifications.
- Experience in Trade Finance, including Commercial and Standby Letters of Credit.
- Strong influence skills to lead large teams, collaborate with executives, and drive strategic initiatives.
