Asset Management - European Equity Research Analyst - Vice President in City of London

This is an exciting opportunity to cover the retail sector in Europe. This is a critically important role for our business, as it influences billions of dollars in client funds and has the potential to produce significant investment returns based on our fundamental and long‑term focused investment process. The role involves doing long‑term fundamental research to produce investment insights and communicating those to our Portfolio Manager partners. You must be willing to take risk; we measure success on an analyst's ability to produce alpha on a long‑term basis. The right candidate would combine the ability to do detailed and insightful research together with a passion for investing. JPM believes that in‑house research is our competitive edge, and therefore the role is well supported with a collegiate global network of analysts in the same sector, technology, data and junior support. Our investment process balances a structured research process with a high degree of autonomy for how analysts approach their work. Our focus is fundamental and long‑term, but cognizant of near‑term changes that impact our forecasts.

Job responsibilities

• Produce high quality insights into European retail stocks in a pragmatic and timely way. Initially this will include launching on over twenty retail names within a two year timeframe.
• Convert research into investment ideas, directly take positions on those ideas within our analyst fund and indirectly influence billions of dollars of client assets.
• Communicate clearly, succinctly and in a timely manner with our investment partners.
• Promote the highly collegiate and welcoming internal culture of JPM.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Ability to produce high quality research.
• A passion for investing and a willingness to take risk.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• At least five years' experience covering stocks either on the sell‑side or buy‑side.
• Knowledge of retail or consumer sectors will be positively viewed, but not essential.
• A team player who will help preserve and expand our positive internal culture.
