Job Description

Nutmeg is the UK\’s leading digital wealth manager and a J.P. Morgan company, expanding its team with a new UX designer role. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals, designing customer-centric products and services. You\’ll play a pivotal role in creating straightforward, empowering products for our clients, impacting all stages of design and product development. Your work will focus on understanding user behaviours and designing web and mobile interfaces for our investment business. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a variety of investment products and services.

As a UX Designer – Senior Associate within Nutmeg, you will be a trusted design authority within the organisation. You will work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to create new customer-focused products and services. You will have a clear understanding of the business promoters behind the product goals and will be responsible for creating, delivering, and supporting high-quality design outputs. You will also work with the design system team to define common patterns and design tokens and components. Your role will involve managing stakeholders and proactively solving issues around design delivery and quality. You will also collaborate and provide feedback to design team members and other stakeholders to identify new opportunities for a design or feature that creates value for our customers.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a Product designer, being a trusted design authority within the organisation.
  2. Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, product designers, technologists and business experts to create new customer-focused products and services.
  3. Support and partner with teams to direct discovery work on new products and services.
  4. Have a clear understanding of the business drivers behind the product goals.
  5. Create, deliver, and support other designers to produce high-quality design outputs, including user journeys, UI flows, prototypes, and detailed UI designs.
  6. Work with the design system team to define common patterns and design tokens and components.
  7. Present and communicate work and recommendations to the wider organisation.
  8. Manage stakeholders and proactively solve issues around design delivery and quality.
  9. Collaborate and provide feedback to design team members and other stakeholders to identify new opportunities for a design or feature that creates value for our customers.
  10. Support best practices and methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  11. Be an advocate for the customer and foster a shared understanding of customer-centric design in the organisation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  1. Hands-on experience in roles such as Product/UX designer, across multiple devices and platforms (UX/UI of mobile and web customer-focused applications).
  2. Strong portfolio of design work demonstrating your principles, methodologies, and deliverables.
  3. Ability to synthesize complex, interdependent, and sometimes competing needs.
  4. Solid communication and interpersonal skills, effectively communicating journeys and experience designs to stakeholders, peers, product owners and developers.
  5. Awareness and practical understanding of current technologies and their application and relevance to digital experience design.
  6. Experience using a test and iterate approach through usability studies, and collaborating on UX research methods.
  7. Experience with modern design systems, prototyping software and design tools (we use Figma).
  8. Prototyping skills across a variety of mediums and needs: on paper and digital.
  9. Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented, cross-functional environment.
  10. Bachelor\’s degree in HCI, Human Factors, UX Design or related field or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  1. Experience in Financial Services, Banking or Investment is preferred, but not required; you will need to immerse yourself in this world with passion and curiosity.
  2. Experience in the Atlassian suite of software (Jira & Confluence) is desirable.
