As a Research Assistant in the EMEA Emerging Markets Economics team, you will work alongside senior economists and liaise with colleagues to analyse regional and global trends. You will manage and improve data processes, maintain chartbooks and templates for regular publications, and assist with ad hoc data requests. You will be part of a collaborative team, contributing to research that shapes our understanding of emerging and frontier economies.
Job responsibilities:
- Support senior economists in analysing specific economies and global trends
- Liaise with economists and strategists to formulate views and assist with publications
- Work with data sets and databases, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain and improve spreadsheets and data processes
- Compile and update chartbooks and templates for weekly, monthly, and ad hoc publications, including EM Edge data watch and Global data watch
- Assist internal sales and trading personnel with data requests as needed
- Contribute to a collaborative and intellectually stimulating team culture
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Good knowledge of economics, with experience in analysing macroeconomic data
- Experience working with data sets and databases
- Ability to work meticulously and independently with large spreadsheets and databases
- Advanced Excel skills
- Good understanding of political, economic, and business developments
- Intellectual curiosity and interest in macroeconomics and markets
- Collaborative attitude and strong work ethic
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience with statistical programming languages or packages (e.g., Eviews, Python)
- Familiarity with data platforms such as Haver DLX or Bloomberg
- Masterβs degree, preferably in Economics or Finance
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence as assessed by the Firm and, where appropriate, approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
