The Investment Trust business is a market leading business managing the affairs of 16 London Stock Exchange listed investment trust companies and one New York Stock Exchange listed closed end fund. JPMAM has been at the forefront of efforts to broaden shareholder ownership of investment trusts, particularly in the wealth manager and direct channels.

An Investment Trust Client Advisor has responsibility for deepening the relationships and ownership of our investment trust range across a variety of investor groups that are already shareholders as well as seeking and introducing new groups/buyers to the range. The role will have a geographic focus on London and the regional clients across the UK. Client interaction will be via in-person meetings as well as virtual webinars.

Key Requirements & Duties

  • Develop strong relationships with existing holders of our investment companies and ensure activity is coordinated and communicated with colleagues across the broader UK Funds business.
  • Identify new investors across a variety of client types; institutional, pension fund, wealth management, etc. to broaden shareholder base of our existing range.
  • Help run and coordinate new investment trust IPOs.
  • Keep shareholders informed and up-to-date with their investments as well as cross-sell other investment companies they do not currently own.
  • Work closely with the investment trust Client Directors to keep informed of trust developments, assist with register management, discount management and identify growth opportunities.
  • Record all activity and follow-up actions on SEP.
  • Provide written feedback on an agreed selection of Investment Companies for inclusion in the respective Company’s quarterly board meeting. The report to include movement/changes on the Company’s share register, reporting on undertaken and planned activity as well as feedback from existing or prospective investors.
  • At the discretion of the Client Director, present to the various Boards of Directors on an annual or more frequent basis.
  • Take ownership of specific Investment Company Boards and present feedback and sales strategy to them at board meetings.
  • Work closely with marketing and PR teams to develop coordinated and targeted plans to attract retail investors.
  • Develop relationships with sell side brokers to target opportunities with professional investors.

Key Competencies

  • Experience in investment fund/investment company sales and have a clear understanding of the developing distribution landscape in the UK.
  • Existing relationships with key investment trust buyer contacts in the UK market would be essential.
  • As a minimum, hold a professional qualification, such as the IMC.
  • Experience of forging strong and successful client relationships and superior activity planning skills.
  • An interest and knowledge of global economies, their stockmarkets and investing.
  • Strong demonstrable client skills, including excellent presentation skills and be comfortable working at all levels of seniority, both internally and externally.
  • An organised self-starter who has the ability to work on their own and plan their time.
  • A conscientious team player.
  • A willingness to travel/preparedness to spend significant time away from the office during the working week.

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
