As an Associate Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Agency Securities Finance (ASF) Technology team, you will join a global team responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure/platform for approximately 300 applications. The applications run in a cloud/on-prem hybrid with a gradual move to cloud in the future. The ASF applications are predominantly Spring Boot applications using Oracle Databases with Kafka, MQ, QPid messaging.
The ASF Technology team is a global team of around 100 engineers primarily focused in the Agency Lending business. The role will be based in London with the ASF trading and operations business spanning London, Bournemouth, New York, Dallas, India (Mumbai/Hyderabad), Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney. ASF is part of a wider Securities Services group within the Corporate and Investment Banking division.
Job responsibilities
- Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and debug code written by others.
- Optimize back end applications for maximum speed, reliability, and scalability.
- Drive adoption of best practices in software development and AI integration, maintaining high standards of quality, security, and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet business needs.
- Collaborate with technical Leads and Architects for new products.
- Contribute to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Proficient in coding in one or more object-oriented languages, including Java 17+ with Spring Boot.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
- Experience building enterprise applications with high availability and performance using Java, Spring, Kafka, EKS, Distributed Cache.
- Practical cloud native experience.
