The Corporate Development team at JP Morgan Chase is broadly responsible for strategic partnerships across the firm's consumer lines of business. These partnerships are critical to the firm's ability to execute on its core strategies and meet the needs of our customers in a rapidly changing financial services ecosystem.
The Strategic Partnerships team specifically has three primary functions:
- Determining the partnership strategies (partner or buy) for large tech platforms and fintechs;
- Evaluating, negotiating and executing product partnerships;
- Managing ongoing relationships with large technology platforms externally and firmwide.
As a Vice President on the International Consumer Strategy & Partnerships team, you will play a key role in working across both our large tech and fintech partnerships for the bank, spanning all digital products. You are just as comfortable conducting strategic analysis as you are leading a commercial deal execution and negotiation, and you understand how to lead through influence across a large, multifaceted organisation. You will engage closely with senior executives both externally and internally to evaluate shifts in the financial ecosystem, assess their impact on Chase, and identify partnership opportunities that deliver meaningful value to Chase’s customers. You bring exceptional analytical skills, excel at building strong relationships, and have a deep passion for consumer financial services.
Job responsibilities
- Develop strategy and approaches to inform M&A activity and address emerging industry trends — including new technologies and regulations.
- Lead the evaluation, negotiation, and execution of the end-to-end transaction lifecycle for M&A and strategic partnerships with large tech and fintech players.
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and other functional teams to develop business cases and deal structures, ensuring alignment with business priorities and key drivers.
- Co-ordinate and manage comprehensive due diligence processes for potential transactions, including financial, operational, legal, and commercial reviews. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external advisors to identify key risks, validate assumptions, and ensure all relevant information is captured to support informed decision-making.
- Engage with technical teams and developers to understand system architecture, data flows, and technology risks, translating complex technical concepts into actionable business insights for due diligence and strategic decisions.
- Support ongoing management of relationships with key large partners both externally and firmwide.
- Monitor external environment for important competitive developments and potential partnership opportunities and share perspectives with key line of business partners.
- Ensure all deals are executed in accordance with policies, controls and Corporate Development procedures.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Solid industry experience, preferably across digital, banking, financial services and/or payments.
- Management consulting, investment banking, or PE/VC experience.
- A track record of successfully executed transactions, partnerships and/or strategic alliance development.
- Proven experience working in large cross-functional organisations, and adept at leading through influence.
- Ability to build strong relationships inside and outside of the firm.
- An innate interest in mentorship and helping others develop their career.
- Comfort with ambiguity and working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as project management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree.
