You'll work on Kapital—our sophisticated trade and risk management platform that powers $4 billion in Global Rates trading decisions daily. We're in the midst of an exciting modernization journey, migrating to cutting-edge infrastructure and transforming how we deliver technology solutions.

As a Software Engineer III, you'll be a key contributor to this transformation, working with unique technologies including Smalltalk (yes, really!), alongside modern tools and practices including Python, C, and shell scripting.

Job responsibilities:

  • Solve complex technical challenges by designing and building innovative solutions that go beyond conventional approaches.
  • Own your code from conception to production — write secure, high-quality software and shepherd it through its entire lifecycle.
  • Shape our technical architecture by creating design artifacts for complex changes and ensuring development meets our quality standards.
  • Turn data into action by analyzing patterns across diverse datasets and using insights to continuously improve our systems.
  • Be a technical detective — spot hidden problems and patterns before they become issues, driving improvements to code quality and system design.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Strong object-oriented programming skills (we value clean, maintainable code).
  • Applied software engineering experience in a corporate environment.
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile practices.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code across the full-stack.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
