As a Public Cloud Lead Software Engineer in the Global Technology team, you will lead the design and delivery of observability tools for public cloud platforms. You’ll partner with teams to create cohesive solutions, mentor junior engineers, and ensure our products meet the highest standards. Your leadership will help technologists across the firm gain deep insights into their applications. We foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive team culture.
Job Responsibilities
- Creating well engineered observability solutions for the public cloud will require the successful candidate to develop their knowledge of the major public cloud platforms, initially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Our primary customers are SREs and other engineers within the firm. Understanding the SRE mindset will help you design tools that meet the needs of this community.
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Partners with other teams to build integrated solutions that are cohesive and give a great joined up experience to our customers.
- Leads the production of architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
- Identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Mentors junior engineers in software engineering practices and encouraging discipline and good code hygiene in the team.
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Excellent understanding of GCP fundamentals including compute, networking, storage, and security policies.
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
- Hands-on experience leading system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Highly proficient in coding in one or more languages, preferably Go or Java.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team through software engineering challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging stakeholders and customers.
- Enjoy presenting technical designs and approaches to engineering audiences.
