As a Wholesale Credit Risk EMEA Associate in the Technology, Media & Telecoms (TMT) team, you will work closely with business partners across the region, including Debt Capital Markets, Acquisition and Leveraged Finance, M&A, Corporate Bank, Markets, Treasury Services, and Trade Finance to assess and manage credit risk for a broad range of clients within TMT. You will have the opportunity to support clients across Leveraged, Investment Grade, and Innovation Economy segments, including those backed by Venture Capital. Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for due diligence, credit analysis, and financial modelling of credit counterparties.
- Drive the preparation of credit memos and make recommendations on structure, risk appetite, and grading.
- Build financial models and challenge industry teams on modelling assumptions.
- Devise appropriate downside scenarios and clearly articulate key modelling conclusions.
- Work across a variety of products including loans, derivatives, trade, and treasury products.
- Negotiate loan documentation, derivatives, and other facilities to help mitigate risks.
- Understand risk management policies and interact with stakeholders, including regulators and auditors.
- Manage ongoing credit risk portfolio, monitoring ratings, sector trends, and client performance.
- Coach and support the development of junior colleagues.
- Sound credit skills and judgment with a proactive approach to credit process and risk identification.
- Demonstrate knowledge of transaction structures, loan documentation, and banking products.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to establish credibility and trust with key stakeholders.
- Proven coaching and development ability towards junior colleagues.
- Self-starting, result-driven, multi-tasking, and adaptable to change.
- Prior experience in a Credit Risk department or leveraged finance underwriting.
- Skills in cash flow modelling and financial analysis.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of European languages in addition to English.
- Experience working with Venture Capital-backed clients.
- Familiarity with high yield loans, corporate style loans, and venture term loans.
- Understanding of risk-reward mindset in dynamic environments.
- Experience interacting with regulators and auditors.
- Ability to challenge and support industry teams on modelling assumptions.
- Experience in portfolio management and monitoring sector trends.
