The Governance and Programs Lead in Securities Services Operations (SSO) will drive the risk and control governance framework, including risk and control reporting, presentations to key governance forums, and execution oversight of SSO responsibilities within key Firmwide and Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) risk and control frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the risk and control governance framework supporting SSO is fit for purpose and meets senior stakeholders' needs.
  • Support SSO engagement in Risk and Control Forums regionally and globally, including participation in key EMEA governance meetings and Business Control Committees.
  • Support the broader SSO OCM team in policy and framework discussions within the CIB, leading projects and standardisation efforts across key programs such as CORE, RED and Office of Legal Obligations (OLO).
  • Ensure SSO compliance with CORE framework requirements, OLO framework and Compliance Risk Assessment requirements, and Operational Risk Event management.
  • Work with the broader OCM team to identify and execute opportunities for improved stakeholder reporting, focusing on risk identification, mitigation, storytelling, visualisation, and automation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross‑line‑of‑business operations, business partners, controls management, compliance, risk, audit functions, and central program teams.
  • Lead engagement in key initiatives and ad‑hoc projects for SSO OCM, including testing of automation and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the financial services industry, regulatory environment, and impact on business strategy.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of audit or controls testing across operational, automated or IT general controls.
  • Working knowledge of operational risk frameworks and ability to read, digest and summarise regulatory requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate succinctly, provide opinion, and challenge senior stakeholders appropriately.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data comprehension and analysis, including usage of analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel, Alteryx, or Tableau.
  • Ability to consistently deliver work of a high standard on tight timelines, demonstrating accountability, responsibility and ownership of objectives and team deliverables.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to coach and support teams to deliver similar high‑quality output.
  • Proven record of managing the performance of others.
  • Role model for others in terms of culture, conduct, and continuous learning and development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience responsible for and supporting multiple team members in a remote context.
  • Experience in operational risk management and/or controls.
  • Proven record of managing budget, headcount and recruitment of team members.
  • Experience with digital/AI tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, LLM, GenAI.
  • Knowledge of securities services products, business analysis and/or data analysis skills.
  • Experience working with or delivering to regulators (e.g., OCC, ECB, PRA, FCA).
