As a Global Corporate Bank - EMEA Lending Lawyer - Vice President in the Legal Department you will support its Global Corporate Bank in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. You will be an integral part of the Global Corporate Bank Legal team working closely with the regional lawyers based in EMEA, and will support lending within the Global Corporate Bank, with a strong focus on investment grade lending, acquisition & leveraged finance, direct lending and general bilateral and syndicated lending transactions.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in the documentation, negotiation and execution of lending transactions.
- Providing support to the wider legal team, including partnering with colleagues on cross‑border transactions and structuring and delivering appropriate training.
- Working on group projects and initiatives and identifying and advising on related legal and regulatory issues and developments.
- Pro‑actively supporting the EMEA business with all necessary legal queries and being a trusted advisor to the relevant business stakeholders.
- Building relationships with stakeholders and navigating the organization to assist the business in meeting its targets, while mitigating risk on behalf of the firm.
- Actively contributing to the Legal Department, participating in departmental‑wide projects and contributing to our strategic priorities.
Qualifications
- A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4 PQE and relevant experience gained at an international law firm and/or leading financial institution.
- Proficient drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Solid working understanding of regulatory matters affecting lending.
- Pragmatic with the ability to strike an appropriate balance between achieving the commercial goals of the business while protecting the interests of JPMorgan as a whole.
- Confident and proactive with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, project‑manage and coordinate large projects in a dynamic global environment.
- Ability to work independently on complex lending transactions, escalating key issues where necessary.
- Licensed to practice law and a member in good standing or otherwise eligible to practice law in the jurisdiction in which the position is based.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
- Strong technical knowledge is essential, and knowledge of and experience with LMA loan documentation including facility agreements, term sheets, mandate letters, intercreditor agreements, guarantees and security documents would be an advantage.
- Qualifications in other common law jurisdictions will be viewed favorably.
