The Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) at JPMorgan Chase leads the firm’s data and analytics journey.

As part of CDAO, the Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) develops and deploys machine learning solutions to address key business challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Research and explore new machine learning methods through independent study, industry conferences, experimentation, and participation in the knowledge sharing community.
  • Develop state‑of‑the‑art machine learning models to solve real‑world problems, applying them to natural language processing, speech recognition and analytics, time‑series predictions, and recommendation systems.
  • Collaborate with partner teams—including Business, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategy, and Business Management—to deploy solutions into production.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Ph D or MS program (or equivalent research/industry experience) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, Data Science, or related fields.
  • Expected graduation date between December2026 and August2027.
  • Strong background in natural language processing, large language models, speech recognition, or recommendation systems.
  • Experience with Python and machine‑learning toolkits (Tensor Flow, Py Torch, Num Py, Scikit‑Learn, Pandas).
  • Scientific thinking: ability to design experiments, training frameworks, and evaluate intrinsic and extrinsic metrics aligned with business goals.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills for conveying technical concepts to technical and business audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and in highly collaborative team environments.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics and statistics.
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry.
  • Published research in natural language processing, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or speech recognition at a major conference or journal.
  • Proficiency in developing and debugging production‑quality code, including continuous integration models and unit test development.

The Summer Associate Internship Program begins in June, with a hybrid work model.

Projects will have direct impact on JPMorgan’s businesses, be integrated into product pipelines, or result in published research in top AI/ML conferences.

Full‑time employment offers may be extended upon successful completion of the program.
