As an Associate Design Program Manager in the Digital Innovation (DI) and Experience Design (XD) organization within the Commercial and Investment Bank (CIB), you will play a key role in enabling our multi-disciplinary teams to shape the user experience of our products and services. Leveraging your expertise in design, program management, and product development, you will drive continuous improvements in work delivery and managing programs at scale. As part of a 75+ global design team, you will work across Operations business portfolios to drive Agile practices, implement operational improvements, and ensure effective collaboration across design, product, and technology teams. You bring strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and proactively embrace experimentation and continuous improvement in your day-to-day work. As someone with a passion for design/user experience, you are highly adept at advocating for its role in successful product development with product and tech partners.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of your assigned portfolio or programs by partnering with design leads and product partners to translate roadmap needs into actionable plans, ensuring that resources are aligned with the highest priority strategic business initiatives.
- Manage program risks and drive issue resolution to ensure successful delivery.
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Agile practices within the design team by facilitating the introduction of Agile ceremonies, providing training and coaching, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and advocating for Agile principles to enhance team efficiency, collaboration, and transparency.
- Identify and implement other operational process improvements (outside of Agile) to allow for more efficient and streamlined work delivery.
- Build strong connections across design, product, and technology partnerships, enabling collaboration and connectivity across distributed teams, including design program managers embedded in other parts of the Operations portfolio.
- Facilitate the delivery of a variety of reporting needs at the program and portfolio level, including status and impact reporting, as well as annual budget planning and monthly updates on resource utilization and forecasts.
- Monitor and track OKRs to assess the success of individual and team initiatives.
- Collaborate with design to facilitate workshops to drive alignment, ideation, and problem-solving across teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain a pulse on team health and morale, communicating risks and improvement opportunities to the leadership team.
- Contribute best practices, tips, and templates to the core Design Program Management team proactively.
- Advocate for the role of design in product development by educating stakeholders on its value and impact, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of design's contribution to business success.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience in Design Program Management, User Experience Design, Design Operations, Design Management, Product Delivery, or Operations role dedicated to improving design delivery within a cross-functional, agile product delivery environment including a high level of proficiency working in Jira, including dashboards and automations.
- Knowledge of the end-to-end product design process, design and delivery workflows, design systems, tools, and agile delivery methods.
- Demonstrated results in implementing and/or improving delivery workflow processes with increased speed and efficiency.
- A growth mindset with enthusiasm for scaling design delivery and enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Experience navigating complex matrix organizations, anticipating and resolving blockers, and influencing at all levels.
- Confident facilitator, communicator, and cross-connector of people, information, and ideas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Confluence, Figma, PowerPoint, Excel.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Professional qualification in Lean Project Management, Agile/Scrum Certification or Product Management.
- Knowledge and understanding of the business value of design, design processes, and workflows.
- Understanding of service design principles, research methods, systems thinking, and experimentation practices is a significant advantage.
