As an Investment Stewardship Specialist in Sustainable Investing and Stewardship, you will lead regional efforts in corporate engagement, proxy voting, and reporting. You’ll work closely with research analysts, portfolio managers, and company representatives to coordinate engagement activities and voting proxies. In this front office role, you will contribute to the development and execution of stewardship policies, support client reporting, and help shape the firm’s approach to sustainability. Your work will drive positive change and support the long-term objectives of our global stewardship team.
Job responsibilities
- Conduct proxy voting and governance research of investee companies, ensuring alignment with global proxy voting guidelines.
- Collaborate with investment teams and stewardship specialists to exercise and document proxy voting, and support audit and compliance reporting.
- Contribute to initiatives enhancing the proxy voting process, including policy screening and reporting capabilities.
- Compile presentation materials and minutes for proxy voting committees and engagement working groups.
- Assist in preparing regulatory filings and surveys on stewardship activities.
- Support client reporting on stewardship activities, ensuring presentations and responses meet client expectations.
- Coordinate corporate engagement activities, including research, materials preparation, and documentation of meetings.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of stewardship policies, priorities, and implementation strategies.
- Build key working relationships across investment, business, and corporate teams.
- Support the writing and production of annual stewardship reports and thought leadership pieces.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, law, accounting, public policy, or related field preferred.
- Strong English language skills (written and spoken).
- 3 years of financial services experience or relevant specialist background, ideally in asset management or investment stewardship.
- High-level specialist knowledge of sustainability-related issues.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with sound judgement.
- Proven presentation, communication, and influencing skills; strong report writing ability.
- Ability to drive change in a high-volume, deadline-oriented global investment environment.
- Team player with strong self-motivation and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work with key internal groups including portfolio managers, analysts, product specialists, RFP teams, and corporate actions teams.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience in asset management, investment stewardship, or sustainability-focused organizations.
- Additional language proficiency relevant to the EMEA region.
- Experience supporting client reporting and regulatory filings.
- Background in writing thought leadership or stewardship reports.
- Ability to build relationships across diverse internal teams.
