Job Description:
We are seeking a Legal Associate to join our International Consumer Legal Team, focusing on UK retail consumer banking products. The role involves providing legal support for Chase UK in retail consumer banking, requiring experience with UK payment regulations and understanding of retail consumer conduct rules, including FCA Consumer Duty and DISP Handbook rules. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential to support our company, clients, and business partners.
As a Retail Consumer Banking – Legal – Associate within the International Consumer Legal Team, you will advise on UK retail consumer banking products and services, support business initiatives, interpret laws, advise on regulatory changes, and collaborate with stakeholders and external counsel.
Job responsibilities
- Assist with new product developments and provide legal advice regarding retail consumer banking products.
- Offer legal advice on daily matters related to payment accounts, savings accounts, and customer complaints.
- Oversee contents and execution of documents, including communication on complaints, disputes, litigation.
- Liaise with outside counsel.
- Interpret laws, rules, regulations, and advise on changes and proposed laws.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Solicitor of England & Wales or Paralegal with experience in UK retail banking products like current and savings accounts.
- Knowledge of Payment Services Regulations 2017, FCA Consumer Duty, FCA handbook including BCOBS, DISP, SYSC, PRIN.
- Experience advising on UK retail consumer matters, complaints, FOS investigations, litigation, POAs, bereavement cases.
- Experience with regulatory change management.
- Excellent organizational skills and team collaboration.
- Effective professional interaction at all levels.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with GDPR, Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, and other retail consumer laws.
