The Role

We are working with a well-established Main Contractor specialising in public sector refurbishment projects. They are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to deliver refurbishment works on live, occupied buildings including police stations, fire stations, and other blue-light facilities.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard, while working closely with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage site activities from start to completion on refurbishment projects
  • Oversee subcontractors, direct labour, and suppliers
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with programme and specifications
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, quality, and compliance
  • Manage works in live/operational environments with minimal disruption
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and local authorities
  • Conduct site meetings, toolbox talks, and progress reporting
  • Ensure compliance with public sector procedures and documentation

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager for a Main Contractor
  • Strong background in refurbishment projects (ideally public sector)
  • Experience working in occupied buildings
  • SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), First Aid
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience on police stations, fire stations, healthcare, or civic buildings
  • Knowledge of public sector frameworks and compliance processes
