Overview
You will lead the UK Global Philanthropy strategy for Business Growth and Entrepreneurship, driving systemic impact for underserved small businesses. The role sits at the intersection of strategy, partnerships and measurable outcomes, aligning market priorities with the Firm’s broader agenda. You will mobilise philanthropic capital, data, networks and convening power to help entrepreneurs start, sustain and grow. This position offers influence across national and regional agendas, with opportunities to shape programs, engage senior stakeholders and represent the firm externally.
Responsibilities
- Lead and own the UK Global Philanthropy strategy for Business Growth and Entrepreneurship to strengthen the small business ecosystem
- Set strategic direction, secure executive buy-in, and mobilise philanthropic capital and expertise across the firm
- Build and steward senior networks to ensure visibility and relevance of the work
- Monitor political, social and economic priorities and translate insights into impact-focused strategies
- Provide authoritative briefings and manage high-visibility engagements such as events and site visits
- Represent the firm with senior stakeholders at conferences and roundtables and translate impact into non-financial contributions
- Identify programming needs, build partnerships with non-profits, and ensure coherence with the broader strategy
- Conduct due diligence and risk analysis to protect resources and reputation
- Lead grant-making activities across national, regional and global processes
- Lead thought leadership, communications, and external representation; provide internal reporting and best-practice sharing
Key requirements
- Extensive, senior-level experience in small business support programs with independent design and delivery of complex initiatives (preferably in the UK)
- Strong understanding of the small business finance ecosystem, including access to finance, lending, policy and growth factors
- Experience in non-profit, corporate and/or government settings with knowledge of grant-making and nonprofit capacity assessment
- Strategic, critical thinker with practical program design and implementation skills
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate with diverse groups from field staff to civil servants
- Self-motivated, autonomous, with strong teamwork capabilities
- Excellent writing, communication and project management skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, prioritisation and ability to meet tight deadlines
