Overview
In this Senior Lead Engineer role within JPMorganChase’s Market Risk Technology SRE team, you define NFRs and availability targets, ensuring they shape design, testing, and production. You drive reliable, observable services with strong SLOs and produce measurable customer impact, collaborating across stakeholders. You will mentor engineers, foster an AI-assisted reliability workflow culture, and contribute to the broader SRE community. This is a mission-driven opportunity to scale reliability in financial services with a focus on security and auditability.
Responsibilities
- Define non-functional requirements and availability targets for services
- Mentor technologists and promote SRE adoption within the team
- Design and implement observability and reliability for complex systems to reduce toil and debt
- Utilize enterprise-approved AI to support reliability design, incident analysis, and traceability
- Debug and evolve critical components by mapping interdependencies and limitations
- Provide ongoing guidance, tools, and solutions to support firm growth
- Contribute to the SRE community through forums, guilds, and conferences
- Lead AI-assisted reliability workflows across SDLC/toolchain with emphasis on traceability, resiliency, and security controls
Key requirements
- Formal training or certification in SRE concepts
- 5+ years of applied experience
- Fluency in Python or Java
- Advanced understanding of SRE culture and implementation
- Advanced observability knowledge (monitoring, SLOs, alerting, telemetry)
- Experience using enterprise-approved AI capabilities to improve reliability workflows with strong validation and data sensitivity awareness
- Ability to establish safe AI usage practices in operations
- Strong communication and mentoring abilities
