We know that people want great value combined with an excellent experience from a bank they can trust, so we launched our digital bank, Chase UK, to revolutionize mobile banking with seamless journeys that our customers love. We’re already trusted by millions in the US and we’re quickly catching up in the UK – but how we do things here is a little different. We’re building the bank of the future from scratch, channeling our start-up mentality every step of the way – meaning you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact.

As a Senior Lead Mobile Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the International Consumer Bank, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering our native mobile platform across iOS and Android. This is an architect-level, hands-on leadership role: you’ll define the technical direction, contribute directly to production code, and provide day-to-day technical leadership for both the iOS and Android teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the end-to-end mobile architecture across iOS and Android, including app modularization, cross-cutting platform capabilities, and long-term scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership across both mobile teams (iOS and Android): set standards, drive alignment, and ensure consistent implementation of shared patterns and practices.
  • Remain hands-on: build and review core platform components, unblock complex engineering challenges, and contribute to key customer journeys.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Backend, Security, Risk, and QA to translate business goals into robust technical solutions and delivery plans.
  • Define and enforce a high bar for engineering excellence: code quality, maintainability, security, performance, accessibility, and reliability.
  • Establish and improve mobile SDLC practices: planning, development, peer review, testing, release management, and operational support.
  • Lead the mobile testing and quality strategy (unit/integration/UI automation) and drive measurable improvements in stability and release confidence.
  • Own mobile build/release and operational maturity: CI/CD pipelines, distribution, feature flags, observability, crash/performance monitoring, and incident response.
  • Mentor and coach engineers; support team growth through feedback, technical guidance, and strong engineering culture.
  • Communicate clearly with senior stakeholders on technical trade-offs, progress, risks, and dependencies.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Extensive experience delivering native mobile applications in both iOS and Android.
  • iOS (Swift) experience to include modern iOS architecture patterns and Apple frameworks.
  • Android (Kotlin) experience to include modern Android architecture patterns and Jetpack components.
  • Proven experience operating at a senior technical lead level: making system-level design decisions and driving adoption across teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile fundamentals: performance, memory management, concurrency, offline-first patterns, networking, app lifecycle, and secure storage.
  • Strong engineering practices: writing clean, testable code; effective code reviews; pragmatic documentation; and continuous improvement.
  • Strong experience with API-driven apps (primarily REST, GraphQL) and collaboration with backend teams on contracts and integration patterns.
  • Track record of raising the bar on quality engineering: test strategy, automation, code review discipline, and CI/CD improvements.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and collaborating with geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to align across multiple teams and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience with React Native (preferred) and/or hybrid approaches, with the ability to make sound build-vs-buy and native-vs-cross-platform trade-offs.
  • Experience designing and implementing shared design systems across iOS and Android (consistent UI patterns, accessibility standards, component libraries).
  • Experience with CI/CD for mobile (e.g., build automation, signing, distribution, feature flags, release trains).
  • Experience with observability and production support practices: crash analytics, performance monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational readiness.
  • Experience leading multiple engineers/teams (people leadership or strong matrix leadership), including planning, prioritization, and delivery management.
