Overview

In this role, you will own and enhance the AI/ML governance control environment across International Consumer Banking.

You will partner with Technology, Compliance, Legal, Audit, and Operational Risk to ensure strong risk controls and regulatory alignment.

You will drive end-to-end governance processes, issue remediation, and reporting to executives.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain AI/ML governance risk and control view for ICB CDAO, covering data privacy, governance, permitted use, quality, protection, retention, storage, and analytics.
  • Lead end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML governance control issues: intake, classification, root cause analysis, action planning, milestone management, validation, closure, sustainability checks.
  • Run governance control routines and reporting: governance forums, management information, and executive updates on performance, trends, and risks.
  • Define and maintain control expectations, testing approach, evidence standards, and performance monitoring; drive uplift where controls are weak.
  • Partner with lines of defense for consistent risk practices (design reviews, risk mitigation, issue management, governance reporting).
  • Ensure alignment with policies and regulations; manage exceptions and strengthen adherence through monitoring and escalation.
  • Lead control environment enhancements in response to firmwide initiatives and regulatory expectations across geographies; drive implementation to completion.
  • Lead and coordinate end-to-end audit and regulatory exams and responses for ICB CDAO, including regulator interactions; track and close actions with accountability and evidence.
  • Key requirements
  • Demonstrated subject-matter capability in AI/ML governance and oversight across the full model lifecycle, including Gen AI/LLM components.
  • Advanced proficiency in model risk management and applying controls throughout the AI model lifecycle.
  • Experience in bias detection and mitigation to ensure fair and ethical AI outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of AI regulatory compliance and internal standards/policies.
  • Significant experience in operational risk, internal controls, audit, and control management within complex regulated environments.
  • Strong experience with RCSA/CORE processes, issue management, and control deficiency remediation.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with measurable outcomes and ability to drive issues to closure.
  • Strong judgment under pressure and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder influence skills; ability to escalate when needed.
