The Applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning team in Corporate and Investment Banking is transforming the operations of the world's largest bank by leveraging the latest advancements in open source artificial intelligence and proprietary frontier models. To facilitate rapid growth, the team is focusing expertise in key "Domains" that are crucial to the firm, such as Documents, Email, Speech, and more.
We are looking for an Executive Director for our Corporate and Investment Banking Applied AI team to lead the development of a small team of specialists. This team will be responsible for creating horizontal capabilities in the form of APIs, libraries, and thought leadership, including reproducing external results and publishing novel findings within one of the Domains. We seek a team member with a strong foundation in artificial intelligence and software engineering, who has made significant contributions to open source projects and/or led the development and maintenance of AI systems vital to business operations.
As an Applied AI ML Director within the Corporate and Investment Banking Applied AI team, you will lead a team of experts to develop horizontal capabilities through APIs, libraries, and thought leadership. You will collaborate with Line of Business AI teams to address priority use cases, design and build services, and promote best practices in AI. Your role will involve mentoring a team of AI engineers and ensuring the firm stays at the forefront of AI advancements.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- PhD and academic research experience or have worked in one of the top commercial AI research labs.
- Deep understanding of AI fundamentals and practical experience with data analysis and experimental design.
- Recent hands-on experience training, deploying models and pipelines.
- Familiarity with distributed computing patterns for training, serving, persistence of state.
- Experience in building and leading high-performing AI teams.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Able to influence key decision makers with compelling technical arguments.
