A leading ground investigation contractor in Chelmsford is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineering Geologist / Site Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a hands-on role involving site supervision, geotechnical logging, and project delivery across a range of infrastructure and development schemes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise ground investigation works including cable percussive, rotary, and window sampling rigs
• Conduct detailed logging of soil and rock samples to BS5930 standards
• Manage site operations, ensuring health & safety compliance and quality control
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution
• Prepare factual and interpretive reports for geotechnical and geo-environmental assessments
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical development within the team

Requirements

• Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years\’ experience in ground investigation or site engineering
• Strong understanding of UK ground investigation techniques and standards
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
• CSCS card and relevant site certifications (e.g. SMSTS, First Aid) desirable
