My client is an accredited Gold Investor in People, an independent multi-disciplinary engineering, environmental and project management consultancy with 4 offices located across the UK who provide essential support and design services across a wide range of sectors at all stages of the built environment development to improve our communities, protect our environment, and create value for clients. They are seeking a dynamic Geo Engineer to join the team in Milton Keynes. The role requires a combination of site work (UK wide) and office-based work, based around the organisation and reporting of Geoenvironmental and Geotechnical ground investigations, but can include supervision of earthworks, remediation, validation of sites etc.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Fieldwork supervision of site investigations including clearance of services, site walkovers, soil and rock logging, sampling, foundation inspections, infiltration testing, gas and groundwater monitoring. The fieldwork includes an element of manual handling, lifting samples, loading/unloading vans etc.
- Undertake preparation of factual and interpretive geotechnical and contamination reporting, (under guidance of a Senior Engineer as required).
- In addition to site investigation tasks, you may be required to assist in undertaking earthworks supervision, remediation supervision, validation of plots, topographical surveys, check inspection covers, and drainage runs, and undertake visual inspections.
- This may also include CQA (Contractor Quality Assurance) supervision work on our landfill sites for both installation of new monitoring and leachate wells.
- Undertake engineering assessment work in accordance with British Standards, Eurocode 7, CIRIA, NHBC etc to successfully deliver projects for our clients.
- You will be required to produce, and coordinate Site Investigations and reporting including health and safety documentation.
- Work closely with other members of the team, in particular Graduate Engineers and technicians in the preparation of site investigations as well as Senior Engineer and other teams as required.
- Undertake coordination with other professionals and contractors as appropriate, and to organise your time to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Input into fee proposals where necessary.
- Liaise with Clients and other members of the design team to ensure designs meet the Client brief including attendance at design team meetings / site meetings as required.
Role Requirements:
- Proficient in logging of soils and rocks to BS5930 and will be expected to support Graduate Engineers and Technicians on site and in the office as required.
- Have a good understanding of the UK geology, and be able to interpret geological maps, published data and site data.
- A good knowledge and experience of site investigation methods and techniques.
- Have some knowledge and understanding of technical design packages including Geo5 Slope (or similar). Good knowledge of Openground logging software for logs and cross sections. Have basic knowledge of CAD for producing site plans and cross sections would be an advantage. Knowledge of GIS also an advantage.
- Excellent written and oral skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel which is used for calculations and presenting site data. The ability to carry out hand calculations to check spreadsheets as appropriate is required.
- Work with Senior Engineers to ensure the monitoring and site investigations are carried out as required with a high attention to detail, quality of data and efficient reporting of data along with completion of investigations to meet planning conditions, clients’ expectations etc. (training provided)
- Good organisational, planning and time management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Full driving licence. A pool/hire van, or electric vehicle will be available for site work.
- Commercial awareness.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Earth Sciences, or any other relevant subject within the field.
- Minimum 1 years experience working in similar engineering consultancy or for a site investigation contractor.
