JP Corry is the leading builders merchant in Northern Ireland, renowned for providing excellent quality and service in the supply of building materials and timber-based products. We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Branch Manager to join the team in Ballymena!

Working Hours: 08:00 am – 17:00 pm Monday to Thursday, 08:00 am – 16:00 pm Friday and occasional Saturdays.

Location: JP Corry, Unit 12, 14A Pennybridge Industrial Estate, Ballymena, BT42 3HB.

Role Purpose

Working in strong collaboration with the Branch Manager, the role of Assistant Branch Manager is to support a high performing team to drive sales and deliver exceptional customer experience. This role is all about delivering sales through people, performance and operational excellence – helping colleagues grow, maintaining compliance and safety standards and ensuring the branch consistently delivers strong results. You’ll play a key role in driving success at branch level while developing your leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Branch Manager in delivering branch sales, profitability, and customer service targets.
  • Drive performance of the sales team through effective use of company systems and data insights.
  • Develop great relationships with new and existing customers (both face‑to‑face and over the phone), understanding their needs and providing proactive advice and solutions.
  • Get to know the local market to support plans for sales growth.
  • Champion a strong health & safety culture and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Assist with people management, i.e. onboarding, training & development and absence management.
  • Oversee operational standards, stock, and commercial processes to maximise efficiency.
  • Promote our values of Decency, Passion and Pride in all interactions with stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Evidence experience in motivating and driving sales.
  • Prior experience of team supervision and leadership.
  • Strong sense of commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of health and safety.
  • A passion for delivering customer service excellence.
  • Competent in the use of IT, including but not limited to trading systems and Microsoft suites.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; written, phone and face‑to‑face.
  • Knowledge of building materials/ construction market would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Full and clean driving licence would be advantageous but not essential.
