This role suits an experienced Mechanical Engineering Leader who enjoys combining hands-on technical authority with people leadership, ownership of sustaining engineering, and influence at R&D leadership level.

The Role

  • Leading and developing a high-performing sustaining engineering team
  • Acting as technical authority across mechanical product design and lifecycle support
  • Driving resolution of complex technical and field issues
  • Leading and prioritising sustaining projects with real business impact
  • Providing expert guidance in mechanical design, materials, plastics, tooling, and manufacturing processes
  • Partnering with quality, operations, regulatory, suppliers, and senior stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with regulated product standards and internal procedures
  • Championing EHS, quality, and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years’ experience in mechanical product development, including sustaining engineering
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and complex projects
  • Strong background in mechanical design, plastics, materials, and tooling
  • Experience working in regulated product environments (ISO, FDA, medical or similar)
  • Confident communicator with strong judgement and decision-making ability
