Lead the Airways Sustaining team in the aspect of people process and projects to ensure high quality team output and to act as a technical authority in all areas of Airways products and to directly lead certain sustaining projects and engineering activities. The position is a member of Airways R&D management team and reports to the R&D Director.
Responsibilities
- Act as a recognized authority in Airways sustaining engineering.
- Perform engineering work requiring recognized expertise in all aspects of Airways sustaining engineering.
- Explore and recommend innovative creative and complex technology solutions to solve problems in the Airways products.
- Provide technical guidance and direction using knowledge and skill in Mechanical engineering design, molding extrusions materials and mold tooling.
- Work with all stakeholders, vendors and internal departments to resolve department issues and contribute toward project and organizational objectives.
- Make Airways sustaining engineering team plans and schedules allocating resources and stimulating individuals performance and team cooperation and maintain team metrics and continuously improve.
- Commitment to maintain awareness of new scientific knowledge/technology in relevant fields and ensure regulatory compliance for all products.
- Ensure compliance of company procedures and all applicable laws regulations and standards good business practices and company documented procedures.
- Engage others promote and participate in Environmental Health and Safety initiatives focusing on continuous improvement.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Direction of others
- As a people manager this role may typically be required to perform tasks like administrative duties organizing employee schedules monitoring and evaluating employee performance and leading team members.
- Managers may also be responsible for collaborating and developing improvement plans monitoring progress and delegating employee assignments.
- Additional responsibilities can include managing project teams to develop execute and complete assignments; organizing team roles and evaluating employee performance; documenting operational tasks and reporting to higher-level management; performing employee performance reviews and assessments; and assisting with new employee onboarding and training.
Education Required
- University Degree (BA degree) required or equivalent experience.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor degree or above is a must or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years post graduate experience in Mechanical development.
- Possesses and applies an expertise in Mechanical product development as well as competency in related specialty fields.
- Ability to manage projects of significant scope and impact.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to lead and guide project team members in troubleshooting and carrying out significant project phases.
- Expert knowledge and skill in sustaining documentation procedures development methods and project management.
- Expert knowledge and skill in Mechanical engineering design and ideally background in molding and or extrusions materials mold tooling.
- Knowledge of SOPs FDA/ISO 9001/ISO13485/FDA 510K etc. principles and skill in integrating into hardware product development discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize creativity foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems.

Work Environment
- This is largely an Ashford office based position 2-3 days per week and the rest working from home.
- This role reports to the R&D Director.
- Typically requires travel less than 10% of the time internationally.
