Plants Galore – Head office

We are a continuously expanding Garden Centre Company based in the Southwest of England with four retail garden centres based in Yeovil, Exeter, Newton abbot and Plymouth. We grow £3.5 million worth of plants along with importing a variety of European plants and dry goods.

Our head office is seeking a buyer to join it’s very talented team. We offer full in house training led by our experienced and skilled managers. The role is very versatile and will benefit a candidate who has an interest in business and is looking for a long term career path.

The office is fast paced and the role requires someone who is able to manage their time and priorities.

The role is available immediately and comes with the ability to progress in our ever-expanding business.

Role Specifics – Full in house training provided

  • Regular reporting across a range of topics
  • Creation and management of excel spreadsheets including formulas
  • Data collection, entry and analysis
  • Negotiation and purchasing of a wide range of products
  • Communication with Asian, European and UK suppliers to place orders
  • Approving packing lists, scanning barcodes and authorising orders to ship
  • Processing imports using the GOV IPAFFS system
  • Sundries purchasing
  • Customer service – direct with customer email enquires
  • Other roles to assist with holiday cover

Skills required for this role

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Highly organised
  • Good understanding of excel including writing basic formulas eg ‘A3=A1+A2’
  • Ability to use mental maths to check sums and ensure they seem correct
  • Good levels of English – both spoken and written
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Ability to time manage and prioritise
  • Good understanding of IT Systems and Software

Desirable

  • Experience in buying
  • Experience in Administration

Employment Specifics

  • The role would require applicants to work Monday to Friday with occasional shop floor support needed on key trading weekends throughout the year – flexibility to help is an advantage
  • We can offer £13.50 to £15.50 per hour with flexibility to work 35 hours to 40 hours per week – exact working hours to be agreed
  • Holiday is pro rata based on hours worked – approx. 28 days
  • The role will be supported by full on-site training by our experienced head office team
