Our client, a highly regarded fine art gallery and artist estate management business, is seeking an experienced and organised Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of its small studio just outside High Wycombe.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will oversee the full administrative and operational function of the business, acting as the central point of contact across finance, registrar duties, studio management, and wider business support. There is a total of 8 staff working both in the gallery in London and the studio, so this role will be suitable for someone happy to work within a small team.

This is a broad and varied role at the heart of this high-end art business that buys and sells works, manages artist estates and produces several prestigious exhibitions each year alongside a programme of online auctions, all created and promoted in-house.

The successful candidate will be a confident, hands-on operator with a background in the art world and be happy to turn their hand to a variety of functions within the business. Familiarity with Xero and CRM database systems is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable generalist to play a pivotal role within a well-established and respected business.

Hours: 9-5 pm

Location: fully based in the studio

Holiday: 25 holidays

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Financial administration including invoicing, VAT returns, payroll, cash flow, and supplier accounts using Xero, supported by external accountants
  • Overseeing the company’s bespoke CRM database, including stock control, consignment tracking, and artist and estate contract management
  • Studio and office management, including IT, facilities, contractors, and HR administration
  • PA support to the Managing Director, including correspondence, contracts, and inventory management
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of exhibitions, online auctions, and promotional activity
