We are recruiting for a Group People Manager role with a growing and ambitious commercial property business. This is a 12-month contract, with the possibility of going permanent.
This role will be responsible for building HR strategy and the systems behind it, while also running the full employee lifecycle. Keeping the business compliant with UK employment law is an essential part of the role. With no wider HR team to lean on, this Group People Manager role suits someone equally comfortable shaping strategy and running a disciplinary hearing.
The right person will be capable of communicating clearly, having difficult conversations calmly and reporting concisely at Board level.
We are looking for a degree-educated and experienced HR generalist with five years' experience, and at least CIPD Level 5, plus a strong grasp of UK employment law and a track record of introducing HR policies and systems.
Role: 12-month full-time contract – with perm possibility
Salary: Base salary £60–£70k + discretionary bonus
Key duties include:
- Set and deliver the HR strategy with the Chief of Staff, aligned to business goals
- Act as trusted HR adviser to the leadership team, reporting at Board level
- Introduce a new HR system and AI tools, and map current HR processes
- Manage recruitment from workforce planning through to offers
- Deliver smooth onboarding and inductions for new starters, and oversee training, wellbeing and offboarding
- Handle employee relations / formal processes in line with the ACAS Code of Practice
- Manage absence, probation, performance and appraisals
- Lead organisational change and support managers through it
- Write and maintain HR policies, contracts and the employee handbook
- Maintain GDPR compliant records
- Prepare payroll inputs, HR reporting, manage HR suppliers
