We are seeking an experienced and insightful Politics & Society Editor to lead a small team of editors for the UK edition of The Conversation. This is a senior editorial role responsible for shaping coverage of UK politics, public policy, and key societal issues, working closely with academic contributors to deliver authoritative, evidence-based journalism.

The successful candidate will combine strong editorial judgement with leadership skills, ensuring high-quality output while fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a small team of editors covering politics and society
  • Commission, edit, and publish articles on UK politics, governance, and social issues
  • Work with academic authors to develop accessible, engaging content
  • Set editorial priorities and respond to the news agenda
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to editorial standards
  • Collaborate with other section editors and the wider UK editorial team
  • Mentor and support junior editors, helping develop their skills and expertise
