Global Corporate Venturing is looking for a junior reporter to join our team covering the fast-changing topic of business innovation. GCV tracks the way that big businesses, universities and governments innovate —whether this is through investing in startups, building their own new ventures, or turning university research into spin-out companies.

We’re building up a lively set of media products including a website, podcasts, webinars and social media and we are looking for a young journalist with energy and ideas to help us.

We’re looking for a reporter with some experience of writing about business — or who can demonstrate a serious interest in business and is willing to learn the ropes quickly. Experience of data journalism, SEO, writing and producing material for social media, podcasting and video would be a bonus.

About Global Corporate Venturing

GCV is a global publishing and events company that provides news and insights for a global business audience. We host global events, with flagship conferences in Silicon Valley, London, São Paulo and Tokyo, and track the people, companies, deals and emerging trends shaping the future of innovation and capital. There is some opportunity to travel to cover these conferences.

We’re a small, friendly editorial team with big ambitions and looking for people who want to develop and grow with us.

This is a remote role, but we are ideally looking for a reporter based in the UK. A large portion of the editorial team meets in person in London once a month and we would need you to be able to join these meetups regularly.

What Will You Be Doing?

You will be writing news stories and interviews about people, deals and trends in both corporate and university innovation. You would cover everything from interviews with senior business leaders to profiling exciting new startups to reporting on how new laws or global events are affecting a particular business sector.
You will be primarily writing a lot of short-form news and helping us source stories for our weekly deal trackers. Alongside these more routine tasks, we’d like you to develop longer pieces and projects. We want to support your development as a writer with a view to taking a more senior role as you progress.
GCV is a small but growing company and so there is a lot of scope to influence the direction of the company and to grow your role into something bigger.

What Skills Do You Need?

  • Excellent written and spoken English —attention to grammar and spelling is essential
  • Two years relevant experience in journalism
  • Experience of writing about business
  • An enthusiasm for interviewing people
  • An understanding of data and how to write news stories based on data
  • The ability to write clean and engaging copy to a deadline

Other languages, experience with data journalism, and knowledge of SEO, video and podcasts would be a bonus.

What We Offer

  • Salary of £25-30k, dependent on experience
  • 25 days of annual leave
  • An additional day’s leave for your birthday
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Life assurance
  • A shiny new laptop and other equipment you need for the role
  • Budget for learning and development

How To Apply

Please email us at, and please include in your application:

  • A cover letter — NOT written using generative AI —explaining why you are interested in the role. Applications with an AI-written cover letter will not be considered.
  • 3 articles you’ve written that you’re proud of
  • 3 ideas for stories you would write for GCV
