Journeys With Purpose | UK-based, Hybrid | Full-time
About Journeys With Purpose:
Journeys With Purpose creates exceptional travel experiences that bring people closer to the natural world, local cultures and the people working to protect them. We take our guests beyond the expected, into extraordinary landscapes and conservation projects where travel can become a catalyst for lasting positive change. Every journey is an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the natural environment, support local communities and contribute to a more hopeful future for the planet.
We are an ambitious, close-knit team building a different kind of travel company. One where commercial success and meaningful impact go hand in hand, and where curiosity, initiative and fresh thinking are encouraged. We are looking for people who want to help shape what comes next.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a commercially driven Sales Manager who understands the value of an exceptional client relationship, knows how to turn opportunity into action and shares our curiosity about the world.
This is a hands-on, player-coach role, with approximately 80% of your time focused on selling and 20% on leading and developing the sales team. You will own your pipeline from the first conversation through to the final booking, carry your own targets and set the standard for the team as we grow.
You will also play an important role in shaping our private sales strategy, identifying new opportunities and helping more people discover Journeys With Purpose.
This is not a role for someone who waits for enquiries to arrive. We want someone who builds relationships with intention, sees potential where others might not and has the confidence and tenacity to turn interest into bookings. Someone who combines commercial instinct with warmth, authenticity and an understanding of what makes a journey truly memorable.
Above all, you will understand that what we sell has a purpose beyond the journey itself. Every booking helps fund and promote the conservation projects and community initiatives we believe in.
What You’ll Do
Drive Sales and Business Development
- Own your sales pipeline from lead generation to conversion, taking responsibility for meeting and exceeding individual targets.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, developing relationships and expanding our client base.
- Bring creativity and initiative to prospecting, finding new ways to introduce Journeys With Purpose to the right clients.
- Represent JWP at relevant industry events, trade shows, networking opportunities and familiarisation trips.
- Build a strong understanding of our destinations, experiences and conservation work, bringing them to life through thoughtful, tailored client conversations.
Shape Our Sales Strategy
- Work with the management team to develop and deliver our private sales strategy, aligned with our wider business and impact ambitions.
- Identify opportunities to improve our sales approach, strengthen conversion and develop new markets.
- Use pipeline data and performance insights to inform decisions, maintain momentum and keep opportunities moving.
- Help build the systems, processes and commercial foundations needed to support our next stage of growth.
Lead and Develop the Team
- Lead by example, setting a high standard for sales activity, responsiveness, accountability and follow-through.
- Coach and mentor the sales team, supporting individual development and stronger collective performance.
- Create a collaborative, ambitious environment where people are encouraged to take ownership, share ideas and raise their game.
- Balance your own sales responsibilities with the support and direction needed to help the wider team succeed.
Build Lasting Relationships
- Develop trusted relationships with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, understanding their interests and creating journeys that reflect them.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with destination management companies, industry contacts and strategic partners.
- Become a knowledgeable ambassador for our destinations, experiences and conservation mission.
- Work closely with our marketing, community, operations and business development teams to strengthen the guest experience and continually improve what we offer.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong commercial instincts with genuine curiosity about the world. You will be comfortable working autonomously, motivated by ambitious targets and energised by the opportunity to build something.
You will bring:
- Luxury travel sales experience: At least four years in travel sales within a high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth environment, with a proven record of meeting and exceeding targets.
- A proactive sales mindset: Confidence generating your own leads, opening doors, nurturing relationships and closing bookings. You know that a "not yet" can be the beginning of a future sale.
- Destination knowledge: Specialist knowledge of Latin America, Asia and/or Europe, ideally supported by an established network, alongside the confidence to sell journeys across the globe.
- Leadership experience: The ability to motivate and develop a team, coach sales colleagues and lead by example.
- Commercial awareness: Strong pipeline management, an analytical approach to performance and confidence using sales and travel itinerary software. Experience with Spark is an advantage.
- Relationship-building skills: Excellent communication, listening, negotiation and interpersonal skills. You know when to ask the right question, when to listen and how to build trust.
- Initiative and adaptability: An entrepreneurial approach, creative thinking and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
- A connection to our purpose: A genuine interest in nature conservation, rewilding, local cultures and responsible travel, with a desire to contribute to positive social and environmental change.
Just as important is how you work. We value honesty, integrity, inclusivity, diverse perspectives and a commitment to wellbeing. We want someone who takes responsibility, supports those around them and brings energy and generosity to a close-knit team.
What Success Looks Like
You will build a healthy, active pipeline and consistently deliver against your sales targets. You will develop new client relationships, convert opportunities into bookings and contribute to the growth of our private travel offering.
You will also help the sales team perform at its best, strengthening the way we work together and building relationships that extend beyond a single journey.
Ultimately, success means helping more people experience the world in a way that stays with them, while contributing to the conservation and community initiatives at the heart of Journeys With Purpose.
