Journey technology is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join us. You will be joining the experience design team to participate and lead the research processes around key projects and follow it all the way through design and testing. You will also be transforming and communicating insights from discovery phases into documentation and actionable decisions for the UX design team. Aside from projects, there will be opportunities to support the growth of our digital products spanning across multiple tech platforms.

About Journey

Journey is a design studio that brings together media production, digital technology and design to articulate, promote and execute big ideas. We have studios in London and New York, and an international portfolio of clients including BIG, UNStudio, the Empire State Building, Heatherwick Studio, and the V&A. We value pioneering attitudes, collaborative work and dedicated, generous individuals.

Journey’s Experience Design Team

Experience design supports a range of projects within the Journey umbrella. From defining and designing digital experiences for museums, digital experiences in the architectural realm and creating new generation visualisation tools for architects and city planners. As Journey grows, our products become complex, building a strong and credible research practice is a priority. This role bolsters the team's offering, raising the bar on the foundations in place.

What you will be doing

  • Collaborating with the Experience Director to plan and conduct qualitative and/or quantitative user research for both discovery and user testing of prototypes.
  • Work closely with product leads to help define future functionality.
  • Synthesise complex findings into clear, compelling narratives, tailored to different audiences, including senior leaders, to drive alignment and action.
  • Lead our research and requirement gathering framework together with the experiential director.
  • Partnering closely with designers, product managers, tech teams and production to encourage the product choice and prioritisation of features.
  • Validate prototyping phases through iterative testing.
  • Maintain research repositories, documentation, and best practices.
  • Work with UX and UI designers to translate findings into wireframes and working prototypes.

What you will bring

  • 7+ years leading user research in a product-led organisation, with responsibility for shaping research direction, not just executing studies.
  • Strong expertise across both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with sound judgement about when to go deep, when to go broad, and when to move fast.
  • Proven experience working as a sole or lead researcher, managing competing priorities, stakeholders, and expectations.
  • Ability to balance a long-term vision for research with pragmatic, actionable steps that deliver value quickly.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn insight into clear direction.
  • A collaborative, enabling mindset, comfortable working across disciplines and helping others succeed.
  • Experience, affinity with architectural projects.
  • Experience researching both physical and digital products.
  • Experience researching computer games and/or 3D digital environments.
  • Strong understanding of web and 3D game engine technology.
