Overview

Facilities Maintenance Operative (Part Time) at Joules Head Office – The Barn, Market Harborough. You will join a dynamic, hands-on team responsible for maintaining a 60,000 square foot facility and supporting daily operations across the site.

What you’ll do (Responsibilities)

  • Be responsible for a wide range of essential tasks to ensure premises are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds, reporting safety, security, or maintenance concerns.
  • Decorating, furniture assembly and general maintenance for the building.
  • Carry out minor repairs across electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
  • Monitor and liaise with contractors working on behalf of the Facilities Department.
  • Move heavy or bulky items, load and unload vehicles; transport stock and deliveries around the building and events.
  • Asset management – manage inventory and handling of samples and other company assets.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance and internal and external area upkeep; participate in deep cleaning as required.
  • Provide cover for Office Manager, Goods in and Reception during periods of absence.
  • Provide first aid and fire marshal assistance (training will be provided).
  • Handle and securely transport goods via a Long Wheel Base van, including pre-trip checks and accurate documentation.
  • Maintain and upkeep of the Long Wheel Base van.
  • Be a designated key holder and an out-of-hours contact for security or building issues (evenings and weekends).

About you (Qualifications & Skills)

  • This is a hands-on, multi-trade role, ideal for someone with a strong background in building maintenance and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Practical, detail-oriented with pride in your work.
  • Proven experience in a similar facilities maintenance role, ideally in an office environment.
  • Qualifications in various trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical).
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Physically capable of manual handling, operating power tools and working at heights.

Working arrangements

This is a part-time role, 20 hours per week, based at The Barn – Joules’ Head Office in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. There may be ad-hoc overtime up to 37.5 hours per week in line with business needs. The role is primarily based at Head Office Monday–Friday, with occasional travel to retail stores, photoshoot locations, countrywide events and warehouse locations. Some flexibility to work evenings, early mornings or weekends may be required on short notice.
