Lead the launch of one of Birmingham’s most exciting new pub destinations. Located in Birmingham city centre, Gas Street Vaults offers a rare opportunity for an experienced hospitality manager to lead a major new pub opening. With a prime canalside location, strong food and drink offer and significant investment planned, this is one of the most exciting General Manager jobs currently available in Birmingham.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a major Birmingham hospitality project and help shape it into one of the city’s leading pub destinations. Located in the heart of Gas Street Basin, Gas Street Vaults will combine exceptional beer, quality pub food, live music and warm hospitality within one of Birmingham’s most iconic waterside locations.

Joining before launch, you’ll play a key role in building the team, developing the offer and creating an experience that keeps customers coming back. This is far more than simply running a pub. It’s an opportunity to help create a flagship Joule’s Brewery destination from day one.

The Vision

A major new canalside pub destination coming to Birmingham in January 2027. Gas Street Vaults is being transformed from a former bistro restaurant into a characterful Joule’s Brewery Taphouse inspired by Birmingham’s industrial heritage, canal history and pub culture. Our ambition is to create a destination pub made up of unique spaces, each with its own atmosphere and experience.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a General Manager within a busy pub, restaurant or hospitality venue
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams
  • Commercially aware with experience delivering sales and profit targets
  • Passion for hospitality, food and drink, especially beer and wine
  • Experience delivering events and driving local trade
  • Knowledge of cask ale and cellarmanship is highly desirable
  • Resilient, hands‑on and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
