To enhance the trading strategy of the Joulen portfolio, leveraging your analysis on the market opportunities to communicate this to the engineering team who will help develop the algorithm around your insights. Monitor the portfolio and step in to optimise opportunities and revenue for the company while we grow. The role will find ways to add value and ensure the accurate execution on the day-to-day activities.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional looking to take on a new challenge to work in an exciting and rapidly growing industry. The role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the delivery of Joulen's long-term strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have experience trading short term power in the GB market given this is our fastest growing region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside our automated platform to provide real time insight and help manage portfolio.
- Find new trading opportunities to increase revenue and enable commercial targets to be met.
- Analyse the market and collaborate with the data engineering team to develop and improve models.
- Monitor trading performance and contribute to regular reporting.
- Work across the trading team to help manage collateral position effectively.
- Ability to investigate market nuance to communicate insights across the Trading Team.
- Any other duties as determined reasonable by the Head of Trading Operations.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree level education in a relevant course.
- Highly numerate.
- 3+ years experience within the GB Energy market.
- Strong experience with the GB Energy market and operating within it ideally within the Front Office.
- Strong experience with short term power trading within GB.
- Strong analytical capability, including critical self-reflection.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; will be interacting with other members of the trading team as well as Software Development and Sales team.
- Self-motivated, results focused and able to work on own initiative.
- Hybrid working model is preferred so ability to travel to Belfast based office.
- Comfortable with hours of work changing, as role develops may require some out of hours working.
Desirable Criteria:
- Have worked in a product engineering environment.
- Experience working with a VPP.
