Base: Wigtownshire – this post will have an office base in Stranraer with options to work remotely
Key Tasks- Provide sensitive, non‑judgemental and confidential information, advice and support to Carers.
- Provide extensive one‑to‑one support to Carers using telephone, face‑to‑face appointments and digital platforms.
- Support the delivery of groups for Carers virtually or in person.
- Assist Carers to develop an Adult Carers Support Plan using outcomes‑focused good conversations.
- Provide advocacy where appropriate or support the family and Carer to access independent advocacy.
- Establish and maintain links with relevant professionals in health, Social Work, education and the third sector; maximise opportunities for joint working, sharing expertise, supporting Carers and general networking.
- Promote the importance of maintaining and improving Carers access to health and wellbeing opportunities.
- Keep up‑to‑date with changes in relevant policies, locally and nationally.
- Enable Carers to participate in local planning and decision‑making processes.
- Participate in promotional activities relating to the work of the organisation including giving presentations.
- Participate in fundraising opportunities and Carers activities, including Young Carers groups if required.
- Provide information to be circulated, contribute to newsletters, calendars of activities and website information.
- Use MS Office programmes, Outlook and input into the organisation’s CMR database for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Attend regular staff supervision and Carers Centre staff meetings and training.
- Any other duties deemed necessary by the Centre Manager and the Board of Trustees.
- Experience of working with Carers or providing support to people.
- Awareness of issues experienced by Carers.
- Proven experience of multi‑agency working.
- Computer literate – knowledge of computer applications and email packages.
- A sound working knowledge of digital platforms, including social media.
- Experience in video communication apps.
- Friendly, approachable manner and good listening skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, proven experience of establishing strong working relationships with clients, colleagues and other professionals.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters.
- Skills in monitoring, record keeping and report writing.
