The Opportunity
A leading Cost & Project Management Consultancy is looking to strengthen its growing Data Centre team with an experienced Planner who has a proven track record working within the Data Centre sector.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established consultancy supporting some of the industry's most significant hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical developments across the UK and internationally.
You will work alongside experienced Project Managers, Cost Managers and other specialist consultants, providing high-quality planning and programme management advice throughout the project lifecycle.
Data Centre experience is essential for this position.
The Role
As a Planner, you will play a key role in supporting clients across major Data Centre programmes, providing robust planning, scheduling and programme management expertise.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, maintaining and managing detailed project programmes.
- Working with Project Managers, Cost Managers, designers, contractors and client teams to establish realistic delivery programmes.
- Monitoring progress against approved programmes and identifying potential delays and risks.
- Undertaking critical path analysis and programme impact assessments.
- Reviewing contractor programmes and providing advice on programme performance.
- Supporting project controls, reporting and governance processes.
- Producing clear and concise programme reports for senior stakeholders.
- Identifying programme risks, constraints and opportunities and developing mitigation strategies.
- Supporting change management and assessing the programme implications of variations and changes.
- Contributing to tender and procurement programmes where required.
- Working across multiple workstreams and projects within a fast-paced Data Centre environment.
- Supporting clients through the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction through to construction, commissioning and handover.
The Projects
You will have the opportunity to work on high-value, technically complex Data Centre developments, potentially including:
- Hyperscale Data Centres
- Colocation facilities
- AI / high-density computing environments
- Data Centre campuses
- New-build developments
- Major refurbishment and expansion projects
- Mission-critical infrastructure programmes
These are projects where programme certainty, delivery dates and risk management are critical, giving you exposure to some of the most technically demanding construction projects in the market.
About You
The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction planning, ideally gained within a consultancy, contractor or client-side environment.
You will need:
- Proven Data Centre experience β essential.
- Experience working as a Planner / Senior Planner / Project Planner within major construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction programming and project controls.
- Excellent understanding of programme development, monitoring and reporting.
- Experience using Primavera P6 is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of critical path, sequencing, milestones and programme risk.
- Experience working with contractors and reviewing construction programmes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with senior client stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-moving project environment.
Experience with NEC, delay analysis, forensic planning, change control or project controls would be advantageous.
