An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically strong Engineering Facilities Manager to oversee the hard services and technical operations at Kent Science Park. This role is ideal for someone with a hands-on background in engineering-led facilities management who enjoys working within technically demanding commercial environments and can confidently oversee building engineering, contractor management, compliance, and operational performance across the estate. The successful individual will act as the technical lead on site, ensuring the estate operates safely, efficiently, and compliantly while supporting ongoing optimisation and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical & Engineering Management
    • Lead all hard FM and engineering services across the estate
    • Oversee HVAC, BMS, M&E systems, high voltage infrastructure, and specialist plant
    • Support planned preventative maintenance and reactive engineering works
    • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and condition-based maintenance
    • Provide technical support and problem solving across the estate
  • Contractor & Compliance Management
    • Manage specialist contractors and technical service providers
    • Monitor service delivery, SLAs, and contractor performance
    • Ensure compliance across COSHH, L8, LOLER, PUWER, CDM, and pressure systems
    • Maintain high standards across health & safety and statutory compliance
  • Projects & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Support lifecycle planning, asset upgrades, and engineering improvement projects
    • Assist with energy and building optimisation initiatives
    • Act as a key technical contact for occupiers, clients, and internal teams
    • Produce technical reports and operational updates where required

About You

We are looking for a hands-on and technically credible engineering facilities professional with experience operating within commercial property, estates, or technically complex environments.

  • Technical Services Manager
  • Hard Services Manager
  • Engineering Manager
  • Technical Facilities Manager
  • Building Services Manager

You will have strong knowledge of building engineering and maintenance operations alongside the confidence to manage contractors, solve technical issues, and support the wider FM team.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong understanding of building engineering, technical services, and hard FM operations
  • Experience managing HVAC, BMS, M&E systems, and planned maintenance programmes
  • Good understanding of statutory compliance including COSHH, L8, LOLER, PUWER, and CDM
  • Experience managing technical contractors and supply chains
  • Strong technical problem solving and organisational skills
  • Relevant engineering or technical qualification
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, IWFM, or similar qualification advantageous

Desirable

  • Knowledge of SFG20 maintenance standards
  • Experience supporting building optimisation or energy management initiatives
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background
