About the role

We are seeking an experienced Recruitment Business Partner to join Gateshead Council's People Services team on a temporary basis. In this role, you will act as a trusted recruitment partner to hiring managers across the organisation, supporting the delivery of high-quality, end-to-end recruitment campaigns. You will play a key role in attracting and appointing talent across a range of services, ensuring a positive candidate experience and compliance with recruitment best practice. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys stakeholder engagement, advisory work, and delivering efficient and effective recruitment solutions in a fast-paced in-house environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and design effective recruitment strategies
  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including attraction, sourcing, selection, and onboarding
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on recruitment best practice and fair selection processes
  • Support and coach managers to ensure consistent and high-quality recruitment outcomes
  • Use recruitment data and insight to improve processes and inform decision-making
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of recruitment approaches and candidate experience

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in end-to-end recruitment (in-house experience desirable)
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to build effective working relationships
  • Experience managing multiple vacancies and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop proactive and tailored recruitment strategies
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of recruitment compliance, equality, and data protection principles
  • Experience with bulk recruitment is desirable
  • Experience using Jobtrain ATS is desirable but not essential
