A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is continuing to expand its UK Design team and is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join its London office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Design Manager from an Architecture or Engineering background to take a key role on complex, high profile rail and airport infrastructure projects, working alongside established technical teams on nationally significant programmes.

The role

  • Managing design programmes from concept through detailed design and delivery
  • Coordinating architectural and engineering disciplines within multidisciplinary teams
  • Managing information flow, deliverables and approvals to agreed timescales
  • Supporting commercial management including scope changes, variations and fee applications
  • Appointing and managing sub consultants and specialist designers
  • Acting as a central interface between clients, internal teams and external stakeholders

About you

  • A background in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Building Services
  • Experience working as a Design Manager or Design Lead within consultancy or contractor environments
  • Exposure to complex infrastructure or transport projects, ideally within Rail and/or Airport environments
  • Strong understanding of design management processes, programme control and information management
  • Commercial awareness and experience supporting change control and fee management
  • Chartered or working towards chartership is advantageous but not essential.
