Site Manager / Assistant Construction Manager – Major Infrastructure-Led Residential Development Essex | Up to £65,000 + Benefits

About the Role

Joshua Robert are proud to be exclusively partnering with a leading residential Master Developer to recruit a Site Manager / Assistant Construction Manager for a landmark new settlement across Essex. This is a rare opportunity to join a business delivering a major infrastructure programme. Roads, drainage, utilities, heavy earthworks and landscaping, from design through to local authority adoption, before serviced parcels are handed over to housebuilders. You'll be working client-side, at the heart of a scheme that will shape a new community for the next generation, with genuine influence over how it's delivered.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Reviewing and buildability-checking infrastructure designs at pre-tender and pre-construction stage
  • Supporting the site-wide utility strategy and construction access/haul road planning
  • Monitoring contractors on-site for quality, programme and compliance with approved standards
  • Reviewing H&S files and as-built records to Principal Designer standard
  • Agreeing completion certificates with the NEC Supervisor and Project Manager
  • Coordinating with the local authority highways engineer to bring infrastructure to adoption
  • Managing housebuilder permits, inspections and handover of completed parcels
  • Overseeing site security and estate management for areas outside the live construction programme

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years' experience in civils/infrastructure delivery — groundworks, highways, drainage and utilities (this is NOT a vertical/house-building background)
  • Proven experience managing contractors on live infrastructure schemes
  • Confident reading and interpreting design plans, RAMS, quality plans and ITPs
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
  • CSCS Managers Black Card or Supervisors Gold Card (essential)
  • NRSWA qualification (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work and Temporary Works qualifications (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience with S278/S38/S104 highway and sewer adoption processes would be a strong advantage
  • Strong communicator, comfortable proposing solutions and working both independently and as part of a wider team

What’s On Offer

  • Salary up to £65,000, depending on experience — with the top end reserved for candidates with additional skills such as AutoCAD proficiency or contract administration experience
  • Non-contributory pension scheme
  • Dental insurance and family private medical insurance as core benefits
  • Genuine opportunity to shape a flagship development from the ground up
