  • UK Retail Investment Director
  • Overview

FHP Property Consultants is partnering with Joshua Robert Recruitment to appoint a UK Retail Investment Director, a senior and well connected professional with a mandate to build out FHP's investment and trading capability within the retail sector.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a genuinely senior, market facing position within one of the Midlands' most established and active commercial agencies, with the autonomy and backing to build a service from the ground up, win instructions directly and develop lasting relationships with funds and property companies.

Appointed as a Director from day one and reporting directly to the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will take ownership of FHP's growth across retail investment and trading.

They will leverage FHP's existing platform of 26 shopping centres and retail assets nationwide, alongside new instructions in Warrington, Nuneaton and Blackburn, to establish FHP as a recognised and formally instructed adviser within the retail investment market.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants genuine ownership, commercial freedom and the ability to shape a service line rather than simply inherit an existing desk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead FHP's growth within the retail investment and trading advisory market
  • Identify and engage prospective investors, funds and property companies across the retail investment and trading space
  • Build and manage relationships across institutional and private capital to generate repeat instructions and referrals
  • Identify investment opportunities directly by understanding asset ownership, appraising opportunities and securing formal instructions
  • Oversee the delivery of advisory instructions across a range of retail asset classes, including shopping centres and retail parks
  • Work initially across FHP's established retail property portfolio while building out the investment and trading capability from day one
  • Develop and maintain an active pipeline of instructions and prospective client relationships, with a particular focus on large property companies acquiring shopping centres
  • Monitor market conditions and sector developments to identify emerging investment and trading opportunities
  • Represent FHP at industry events and forums to raise the company's profile and generate new business
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to align the investment service with FHP's wider strategic objectives
  • Provide regular reporting on pipeline, client activity and performance
  • Over time, build out a wider team through developing existing FHP talent and/or making external hires
  • Working with Others
  • Work directly with FHP's senior leadership team to develop and shape the investment strategy
  • Collaborate with the existing 10-person retail team and wider agency business
  • Build long term relationships with funds, property companies, investors and other sources of capital
  • Work alongside internal teams to leverage FHP's existing retail portfolio and client relationships
  • Represent FHP externally with senior stakeholders across the retail investment market
  • Develop relationships that generate repeat instructions, referrals and new business opportunities
  • Candidate Profile

We are seeking a credible, well connected senior professional with

  • A strong and demonstrable track record operating at senior level within the retail property sector
  • An established network of contacts within funds and property companies active in the retail investment and trading market
  • A capital markets, agency or transactions background, with a proven ability to win and deliver investment instructions
  • A strong understanding of retail property and the investment and trading landscape
  • Experience operating across both institutional and private investment markets
  • Experience across retail asset classes, particularly shopping centres and/or retail parks, would be advantageous
  • Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to advise clients at board level
  • A practical and entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to identify where a trade could happen, understand ownership and secure the instruction
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • A self motivated and commercially driven approach, with a demonstrable track record of delivering results
  • The ambition and confidence to build a new service line and grow FHP's profile and fee income within the sector
  • The ability to work autonomously while operating as part of the wider FHP business
  • A relevant professional qualification is desirable but not essential
  • What's on Offer
  • Director appointment from day one
  • Open and negotiable salary package for the right individual
  • No ceiling on potential earnings
  • Genuine equity and ownership potential available from the outset
  • Flexible location and working structure
  • Opportunity to operate through direct employment or an independent trading entity/SPV, with shareholding available from the outset
  • Direct backing and collaboration from FHP's senior leadership team
  • Scope to build and lead a new investment and trading service line
  • Opportunity to develop and build a wider team over time
  • Access to an established platform of 26 shopping centres and retail assets nationwide
  • Access to a strong national client base and a £100 million forward funding deal
  • Why Join FHP

FHP Property Consultants is one of the Midlands' most established and active commercial property agencies, with a strong reputation across the region and a growing national presence.

This role offers the opportunity to combine the platform, relationships and credibility of an established business with the autonomy and entrepreneurial freedom typically associated with building your own operation.

What makes this role stand out

  • Genuine ownership of the retail investment and trading strategy
  • Director status from day one
