A leading national consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Director to establish and lead a new Mechanical Engineering team. This is a unique leadership opportunity to build a team from the ground up, while collaborating closely with established Mechanical & Electrical teams in another key UK city.
The successful candidate will be pivotal in shaping strategy, recruiting talent, and delivering mechanical design and advisory services on major property and development projects. With full support from the wider consultancy platform, this role offers the autonomy to create a best-in-class service line and make a lasting impact on the business.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and lead a new Mechanical Engineering team, setting strategy and standards for growth.
Manage and deliver a wide range of mechanical design and building services projects across multiple sectors.
Collaborate with national M&E leadership, ensuring consistency of quality and delivery across offices.
Recruit, mentor and develop engineers, creating a high-performing and sustainable team structure.
Oversee client relationships, providing commercially focused and technically robust advice.
Actively contribute to business development, winning new work and growing the consultancy’s market presence.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, legislation and best practice. Candidate Profile
Chartered Mechanical Engineer (CEng) with strong post-qualification experience.
Demonstrable track record of delivering and managing mechanical building services projects.
Proven leadership skills, ideally with experience in team building or managing multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent technical knowledge across mechanical systems, HVAC design, energy efficiency and sustainable solutions.
Strong commercial acumen with a focus on client service and business development.
