A responsible and progressive charity, aiming to provide social justice and support to vulnerable groups of people across the UK; victims of domestic violence, ex-offenders, young people, people with mental health difficulties and those struggling with substance misuse. They are a well-established organisation with over 20 years of experience in supported living.
This company currently operates supported housing services for rehabilitating ex-offenders, focusing on independent living skills, wellbeing, and personal development to prevent reoffending.
The Opportunity
- Competitive pay rates; GBP19.28 (Umbrella) per hour, plus GBP0.45 per mile for travel.
- Contract length: 3 months, with potential extension or permanence.
- Based in Colchester, covering the East of England South Patch.
- Flexible location for administrative work, with IT equipment provided.
- Work involves supporting service users on bail, HDC, or on license.
The Responsibilities
- Visit properties regularly, conducting support sessions with service users.
- Assist clients with benefits, housing pathways, and signposting to local agencies.
- Support income management and tenancy sustainment.
- Manage housing and support services, including property maintenance and liaising with contractors.
- Provide emotional support and monitor wellbeing.
- Support ex-offenders with housing management, support sessions, inspections, and appointments.
- Develop support and safety plans, referring to specialists as needed.
- Ensure properties are well-maintained and equipped.
- Help residents understand their responsibilities to maintain their accommodation.
- Motivate and empower service users to achieve their goals.
- Develop move-on plans for future housing options.
The Requirements
- Valid driverβs license, access to a vehicle, and business insurance.
- Experience supporting clients with complex needs (essential).
- Proactive, able to manage caseload independently.
- Knowledge of social/supported housing processes (essential).
- Support tenancy sustainment and income management.
- Enhanced DBS (on update service); HMPPS clearance required.
The Desirables
- Relevant training in housing or health and social care.
- Over 3 yearsβ experience in healthcare or social support roles.
- Understanding of housing law and frameworks for complex needs.
