ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a well-established social housing provider committed to delivering safe, high-quality homes across its housing stock. As part of their ongoing investment in property standards, they are looking to appoint an experienced Multi-Skilled Voids Operative to join their in-house maintenance team, focusing on the turnaround of empty properties to a lettable standard.
This is a great opportunity for a tradesperson with strong all-round ability, particularly strong carpentry and plumbing skills, to join a supportive team environment with consistent, varied work and genuine job security.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- As a Voids Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of repair and refurbishment works to empty properties, ensuring they are brought up to a safe, lettable standard within agreed timescales.
- Carry out first and second fix carpentry, including doors, skirting, kitchen units, flooring and general joinery repairs.
- Complete plumbing works including tap and toilet replacements, basic pipework repairs, and general bathroom/kitchen fittings.
- Undertake general void property repairs and refurbishment works to a high standard, working to void turnaround targets.
- Carry out minor multi-trade tasks as required, including basic plastering, tiling, and decorating.
- Complete accurate job records, timesheets and reports using a mobile device/handheld system.
- Identify additional repair works required and report these through the correct channels.
- Work safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations and safe working practices at all times.
- Liaise professionally with colleagues, supervisors and, where required, residents and other stakeholders.
WHAT OUR CLIENT IS LOOKING FOR
- Proven experience as a multi-skilled tradesperson within social housing, property maintenance, or void works.
- Strong, demonstrable experience in carpentry and plumbing specifically, alongside a good general all-round trade ability.
- A relevant trade qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry, Plumbing, or a related discipline) is desirable, though strong practical experience will be considered.
- Full UK driving licence, essential for travel across the local patch.
- Ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and meet void turnaround targets.
- A flexible, can-do attitude and comfortable working across a variety of property types and job sizes.
