This is a predominantly outdoor role where you will gain hands-on experience in basic gardening and nature conservation tasks. You will also support events held in the park, including setting up spaces and assisting with clearing and tidying afterwards. Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Open and secure gates and buildings when required; carry out routine safety and cleanliness checks and ensure the Pavilion Community Space is well stocked with refreshments and supplies.
  • Work closely with the garden team to communicate ongoing tasks and report any issues that arise, acting as an advocate for the park by promoting it as a place where people can relax, connect with nature and build a sense of community.

Qualifications and attributes:

  • Motivated and adaptable individual with a positive attitude, ready to take on a variety of tasks and try new things.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, with two general assistants on duty each weekend and support from an experienced gardener, while also being confident working independently when needed.

  • Willingness to take responsibility for important safety checks and maintain high standards in your work.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings on a rota basis, typically following a pattern of two weekends on duty and one weekend off, with some scope for flexibility depending on operational needs. Ability to offer availability for up to one evening per week to support community events.
