About the role

We are seeking a Housing Officer to deliver high-quality tenancy management services to residents across JRHT properties. You will play a key role in putting residents and communities at the heart of everything we do, supporting tenancy sustainment, promoting positive neighbourhoods, and ensuring compliance with housing legislation and regulatory requirements.

You will manage tenancies from sign-up through to sustainment, including rent and income management, anti-social behaviour cases, enforcement action, mutual exchanges and transfers. The role includes carrying out regular property inspections and patch walkabouts, managing void properties, maintaining communal areas, and addressing estate issues such as fly-tipping, vandalism and untidy gardens.

As the main point of contact for residents within your patch, you will provide advice, guidance and support on tenancy-related matters. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners, including local authorities and specialist support agencies, to manage complex cases and help residents maintain successful tenancies. Where required, you will prepare cases and attend court in relation to rent recovery or eviction proceedings. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on the CX system, ensuring that household information and warning alerts are relevant and appropriately reviewed.

About you

We are looking for a confident and customer-focused professional with excellent communication, active listening and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with residents and resolve complex issues. You will have experience working face to face with residents, approaching every interaction with professionalism, empathy and a solution-focused mindset. A strong understanding of social housing legislation, tenancy agreements and regulatory requirements is essential, along with practical experience in tenancy management, sustainment and enforcement, including court processes.

The role requires the ability to manage a portfolio of properties, respond effectively to resident enquiries and make sound decisions in sometimes challenging or pressured situations. You will be highly organised, able to manage a varied workload, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining accurate records and producing clear, informative written communications. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and confidence in interpreting data and reporting tools to identify gaps and ensure compliance are key. You must be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. A CIH Level 2 or 3 qualification, or a willingness to work towards one, is required, along with a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
