We are seeking an Information Governance Manager to lead the effective and efficient delivery of Information Governance and assurance across the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) Group. You will also play a crucial role as our Data Protection Officer. As part of a team dedicated to supporting the good governance of the JRF Group, you will contribute to the provision of a modern, professional and responsive service to support the work of both Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, playing an important role as both subject matter expert and critical friend. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to build on their existing expertise in this area. In return we offer a fantastic benefits package and the opportunity to work in a truly values-driven organisation.

With an excellent working knowledge of data protection legislation, including the Data Protection Act and UK GDPR, you will have demonstrable recent experience of the implementation, management, promotion and improvement of information governance in complex organisations. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll be experienced in advising senior management teams in a multi-disciplinary organisation in relation to data protection and information management responsibilities. Your experience will include working across internal functional areas – including technical teams – and you’ll have a sound understanding of IT security best practice.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) works to speed up and support the transition to a more equitable and just future, free from poverty, in which people and planet can flourish. The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) is a registered housing association and care provider with a mission to provide comfortable, affordable and secure homes to people in York and parts of the North East Yorkshire and the North East.

To apply, please upload your CV and supporting letter explaining your motivation for the role and how you think your skills, knowledge and experience makes you the ideal candidate. Closing date for applications is Sunday 22nd June 2025. Interviews will take place in York on Tuesday 1st July & Wednesday 2nd July.

Applications are welcome from all, regardless of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sex, sexual orientation, trans status or socioeconomic background. We positively encourage applications from people from marginalised backgrounds, including but not limited to those with experience of living in poverty. We are committed to being an anti-racist organisation and operate an anonymised recruitment process so that bias is eliminated from the shortlisting process.

In support of our approach to flexible working, we are happy to receive applications from those seeking full-time employment, as well as those who may want to share the role on a part-time basis. When making your application, please state whether you want to be considered for either full or part-time work and, if part-time, the number of hours per week you would be looking for. At JRF we’re at our best when we’re continually building on trust, showing we care and making a difference – and hope others will do the same. So, for those roles which allow it, we’re developing a more blended approach to how and where you work. This means you can expect to work flexibly between the office and home (with an expectation of two days a week in your home office).

We are a Disability Confident Employer. This means that we are committed to the recruitment, progression and retention of disabled individuals. We shall also offer interviews to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the job. If you have a disability, please tell us if you would like to be considered for an interview under the Disability Confident Scheme.
